Federal and provincial open data — US Forest Service, BLM, Recreation.gov and Recreation Sites & Trails BC — plus sites added by the community. Community sites stay marked unverified until other travelers confirm them. Treat every listing as a starting point and verify current conditions, fees and legality with the land manager before you go.

TrailSync scans live incident data from NIFC for fires within a 50-mile corridor of every planned route, and shows air quality and smoke conditions on the Weather page. This is decision support, not an official source. Always verify closures, evacuation orders and fire restrictions with the responsible agency.

Yes. Fire Check is a free standalone tool — no account, no email, no cost. Enter a start and a destination and it builds the real driving route, then lists every active NIFC incident within 50 miles of that corridor, sorted by how close each one comes to the road. Any check can be shared as a link that shows the result. If the fire feed cannot be reached, the tool tells you the route is unchecked rather than reporting it as clear.

Yes — put a watch on any route from the Fire Check page. TrailSync sweeps the NIFC feed daily and emails you only when a new incident appears within 50 miles of that corridor. Fires already reported to you are never repeated, and if a sweep cannot read the feed it leaves your watch alone rather than treating the silence as an all-clear. One click to unsubscribe. No account needed, though signed-in members can manage all their watches in one place.

A Victron system, connected either through an RREV Hub on the vehicle or through your Victron VRM cloud account with an API token. Once linked, you get battery, solar, tank and inverter readings, 24-hour trend charts and a 5-day solar forecast tuned to your actual array. Live data is a Pro feature.

If you have an RREV Hub, use that instead — it reads more from your system than the VRM cloud does, and the token comes from RREV rather than Victron's portal. Both routes read your rig over the internet, so neither reports while you are out of signal. For VRM you need one value: an access token.

1. Sign in at vrm.victronenergy.com with the account that owns the system.
2. Go to Preferences → Integrations → Access tokens and press Add token. Victron shows it only once — copy it before closing the dialog. It is a token, not your VRM password.
3. In TrailSync open Settings → Integrations, paste it into the Victron VRM card and click away. TrailSync asks VRM which installations that token belongs to and picks yours automatically — or lists them by name if you have several. You never need the installation ID from the portal URL.
4. Press Test Connection.

If VRM rejects the token, create a fresh one — a rejected token is about the token, never about your system being offline. Revoking it in VRM cuts TrailSync off immediately.

Yes, within limits. TrailSync installs as an app (PWA), and saved trips stay readable at camp with no signal. Anything live — new route generation, weather refreshes, fire incidents, telemetry — needs a connection. Save the trip before you lose bars.

Yes — TrailSync is in open testing on Google Play. You can also install the web app directly from the browser if you'd rather skip the store.

Open mytrailsync.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It runs full screen like a native app, with offline access to saved trips.

Payments run through Stripe. Cancel anytime from your account — Pro stays active through the end of the period you already paid for, then reverts to the free plan. Monthly plans are not prorated on cancellation.

Nothing is deleted. Your trips stay in your account; on the free plan you can keep 2 of them active for editing. Resubscribe and everything is available again.

Location is used to show weather and search near you, and stays on your device unless you deliberately save a place or add a campsite. We don't sell your data. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

They come from the tank size, MPG and margins you enter in your rig profile, applied to the actual route distance. That makes them far better than a generic assumption, but terrain, load, weather and driving style all move the real number. Carry reserve.

Open the site and use the report or downvote control. Reports and votes feed directly into ranking, so a site that no longer exists — or was never legal to camp at — drops out of planning results for everyone.

Tap the map where you camped, name it, set access difficulty and add a photo. It takes under a minute. Confirmations from other travelers push good sites higher in everyone's route planning.

A contribution ladder. Everyone starts as Traveler. Adding a campsite or confirming someone else's conditions each counts as one contribution: 1 makes you a Scout, 5 contributions or 25 upvotes a Pathfinder, and 15 contributions or 100 upvotes a Trailblazer. The tier is recalculated from your current contributions rather than stored, so it stays honest if a site is removed or votes are recounted. Your badge shows next to your name on the dashboard and in your profile.

Ratings come from travelers who have actually been there. When you confirm a site you report what you found — access, conditions and a star rating — and that updates the site's average. Community sites stay marked unverified until someone confirms them in the field. If a listing is wrong you can correct it the same way; confirmations are how the map heals itself.

Share your invite link from Settings. You get 25¢ in account credit when someone signs up with it, and $3 more if they go on to subscribe to Pro — $3.25 per friend who sticks. Your friend gets a 14-day Pro trial instead of the usual 7. Credit lands on your Stripe balance automatically and comes off your next invoice, so there is nothing to redeem. Referral credit is capped at $150 per year.

Yes. Any saved trip can be shared as a link that opens for anyone — no account, no app — with the route, the day-by-day itinerary and the camps. Each shared trip also generates an animated story card for social. Sharing stays off until you turn it on for a specific trip, and you can revoke the link at any time.
